Is this a balk in baseball? If there is a runner at first and the pitcher is right handed, can he spin off the back of the mound (like a pickoff move to second only spinnng all the way to first) and throw to first base? If it is a balk please explain y

    If you are asking if a right hand pitcher in contact with the pitcher's plate can spin "clockwise" (around in the direction of the shortstop, second base and the second baseman, and then to first base) and complete a pick-off attempt, the answer is no. It would be a balk for failing to initially step to first base. By going clockwise, he is showing motion toward third and second base.
