It is if you do not pull it out of the water and then re-Christen it. A good time to do it if it is a big boat is when you pull it out to scrape the bottom of barnacals or repainting, etc. Then rename it, Christen it, and drop it in under it's new name.
Never heard that one before.
Old wive's tale.
I think boaters' think its bad luck. To me, it is new and I think it needs a new name.
