    They are all over my yard...none that look like this one though....I ain't afraid of no mantis (ghost).

    I don't see why not. Unless you are a male trying to mate. I heard the females bite the head off the male before they mate with them (What's Eating Gilbert Grape)

    One fall I kept one as a pet.I figure I would save it from the cold winter that was coming.I would go out and find it spiders,bugs,and flies.I them would it catch and eat them.Eventually it stopped eating and died.I guess they only live one year.

    Looks like a bug from Starship Troopers. Of course, considering that you can really squash them with your thumb, I don't see any real problem messing with them.
