I've had chickens. They didn't ruin my yard. But they pooped, A LOT! And it smells pretty bad surprisingly.
And mine weren't very nice - grumpier than an old man I swear.
Plus, if you buy them at birth it takes about 29 weeks for them to lay their first egg.

Garden or grass? Chickens will scratch, but they can be kept in a small pen no need for them to ruin grass. You can buy them "chicken scratch" which is just seed they love to scratch for and discover, it keeps them happy. Get two hens, roosters are a pain in the neck.
Does a Goose egg have to be fertilized for it to hatch, or are these eggs non fertile and are edible?
