Help answer this question below.
You should do what is right for you. If people do not like it they can avoid your questions and answers. There are many members here and no matter what you do someone is going to be offended. If you want to say thank you then that is great and if not that is great too. But if you do and they complain tell them that they can always put in their answers to your questions to not give a thanks.
The thing is find what makes you happy and try not to let rude people bring you down, and enjoy the site.
I agree with that person.
I absolutely HATE it when people give me the meaningless and generic "Thanks" comment. It's such a waste of my time and it is more often than not, not a sincere thank you but rather an attempt to fulfill some ideal that we all must be overly polite at all times. I don't consider it good manners to do that.
Good manners is taking the time to write something meaningful in response to an answer that you connect with and recognising the other good answers with points.
Seriously. Ugh, it's just so annoying.
Some people complain that you do thank them, some people complain if you don't thank them, some people say don't just say thanks..leave a comment. The choice is really yours. You are not going to please everybody..I point every answer I get (if I see the answer and sometimes I don't) but I don't always leave a thank you. I am very appreciative of all my answers I get but I often fail to say thank you. Again the choice is yours and you will NOT please everyone no matter what you do.
Manners Don't Hurt... Even in the Virtual World :)
Well saying thanks is nice, it shows manners.
But i try to personalize it, not just work down the line saying 'thanks', 'thanks', 'thanks'
When people do that it makes me feel as if they didnt read the answers, they were just point farmers wanting points.
And through the last 2 years i have pretty much memorized who does that, or who says '+6' and i never answer their Q's.
I just hope that it is assumed that I am grateful... I don't always but most of the time I do. It can become tedius when dealing with so many Q & A's and people.
Do your own thing when it comes to that.
My Mother taught me manners cost nothing and I shall continue to thank people, if they do not like it they are of course at liberty to ignore it.
Well... to be honest, I find it irritating - it seems as if the person asking the question is not really interested in your reply, but is thanking you for answering and thereby earning them more points. I suppose it is a question of perspective - are you asking in order to be answered? or just to get the points?
I allways try to give a humorous reply,,,But sometimes it's hard to leave a funny remarks ,,,, It all depends on the comments your following on from,,,
That person was right.
There is never any situation when everyone deserves to be thanked. But, if you must thank everyone, you can at least try to mix it up and make your comments interesting, so that the user is not disappointed upon checking the comment.
I dont think it's ridiculous, it's nice to see comments when you sign in, even if they are only saying thanks! Better to show your appreciation than not to.
I don't think that it's ridiculous at all.At least you are acknowledging other people's efforts. It's fine by me! :)*+++++*
I like to say thank you. To those answerers who truly help, I tell them so.
It's not rediculous, it's nice. Definitely not necessary, but nice. :)
To me, it dilutes the recognition you could give to truly good answers. It's part of the "everyone gets a trophy" syndrome so prevalent nowadays.
Nunya used to reply thank you to all answers. I didn't mind it a bit. It showed me that she read my answer.
forget what others say just be yourself I think it is nice to say thanks
i love the acknowledgment i just have a problem when you have to go all the way back because they say welcome... i mean then we can say thank you again for the welcome :-( i know in offline someone says thank you then you say your are welcome... but on ab that is just a little to much since you cannot just smile.

Reply however you like :)
I like to recieve a thank you so I at least know my answer has been seen. a comment is even better. I like the to and fro of communication. The points is not why I do it. Lots of my communication may be comments and there are no points in that.
I don't know if you mean the kind that mean well and try their best, but don't really answer the question. In that case I say thanks anyway and I point out the sangle of my question, and give them another chance to answer it. But the ones who are just wasting people's time I don't bother to respond to them, never mind thank them.
I think it's ridiculous that anyone would care so much that you do thank everyone for their answer... I mean, it's who you are and you obviously feel it's important to thank people for their time...
It's so good to see 'Thanks' with a positive rating. Thanks in advance! +4
To each his own. I think it's nice and polite.

What happened to most of my comments to the people that answered my question? Some of them seem to have disappeared.

Why am I not allowed to answer comments to my own question even though I am not in penalty box? More people have this problem?

When AB members change their names without notice I think they owe it to those on their "Friends" list to notify them. What do you think?

You're reading Someone has told me that it is ridiculous to reply 'Thanks' to every answer I receive on AB. Your opinion?
