Question

Help answer this question below.

My son starts secondary school in september, and will need new backpack/sports trainers etc. I am not very "down with the kids", so don't know which brands are acceptable and which will cause him a social death. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

How about Quiksilver for school bags? And try Puma, Nike, Addidas or even DC shoes etc. Maybe even Vans? They are fairly popular nowadays. Im sure you will chose right! Good luck!

I expect your son can tell you.

Arrange a mortgage in advance to pay for Michael Jordan's next tropical isle vacation, and your son should be happy.

Until he gets mugged and the treasured items stolen.

Get him Nike as you can never go wrong with that and it is what a lot of the kids (and adults) are all wearing these days, the only downside is that they can be expensive.

    Well,
Whats his personality like and what can you afford?
These are the most important questions here...

    Over and Out

I would suggest that you buy what you can afford and what you feel is suitable for him. He will probably have lots of "suggestions" about what he wants. As a parent, you have to decide a happy medium between what he "has to have" and what you feel is appropriate for your situation.

I wouldn't worry so much about his "social death" .. more about teaching him that's not so important ...

    Jadey - Vive la difference

I would ask him what he wants or for his preferences, but let it be known that if you don't like it, or it is too expensive that he will not be getting it. Perhaps you can take him with you but set up a budget for his choices that he has to work with when choosing what he wants.

Although, I have not known a secondary school that would allow bags or jackets with a noticable brand name, so make sure you check with the uniform list/dress code in advance, if you have not done so already.

get him a gift card then it's not your fault... if he looks stupid it's his fault... hint... don't let your wife tell him what to get either... he'll figure it out.
