  • His son is just as much a tool of his father Kim Jong-Il, as Jong-Il was a tool of HIS master propagandist of a father, Kim Il-Sung. They have basically established themselves as an informal monarchy; nothing's going to change until they are all booted out.
  • A further period of uncertainty while his son takes control, or fails to take control and another strongman arises to control, either with son as puppet or directly. It just means that North Korea will be even more unpredictable for a while - if such a thing is possible.
  • This is a great question, Jadey. My first impulse was, OK, let's see...a spoiled, greedy, selfish, self-centered dictator dies and his spoiled, greedy. selfish, self-centered, heavy-drinking son, takes his place. Answer - little change. But the thing with North Korea is, and this is my own speculation, based on what I've read, Kim has been gravely ill since last September (could be earlier, no one's said for sure). The recent nuclear issues have come about because the powerful and hard-line North Korean military now has more power than the more moderate voices in the government. If that's the case, then Kim has become more or less a figurehead in the last year, and his death won't translate into meaningful change for North Korea. That is, unless his son has enough powerful allies to oust those who oppose him. But that's a story yet to be written.
  • exactly what his 'future preparations' are.....his son will be the 'implicator' .... they both have been prepping for a long time now...
