Find another alternative to relieving stress or your emotions...

While others around me started to cut, I started to read and write poetry. If not...grab a baseball bat and beat your pillow. Or grab your pillow and scream into it. Always works ;] Life is a valuable thing, don't throw it away. Peace and love.

Ask yourself why you do it. Does it still have the same purpose as the day you started doing it?
After years of cutting I realised I did not have a purpose to do it anymore, still I was doing it. It had become a bad habit. When I realised this I stopped and never cut again.

Could be, maybe you need little help from your friends. A good support system. Gotta get to the reason why you do it first. Once you figure that out you can work on it because you know why. People do have addictions to cover problems and mine was being in a relationship. If I had a relationship it stopped anxiety and loneliness for a lil while. I obsessed a-lot in my mind and it would take away the pain for a while. When I got help I started to live for the first time without the pain. What freedom.

Yep.. I did it years ago =]

some days are harder than others.. and you kind of learn new things to do to replace the old habit.

Of course it is I did, I had nobody to talk to about it at all but I just had to look inside myself and try to think why I felt the need to do it and what was causing me to feel so terrible and think, is it really worth it? Also whenever I get the urge to cut now I try to think about how all it's gonna do is add another scar and make me feel worse in the long run, and it makes me laugh when I realize how vain that sounds ;) but it works for me. Good luck:)

Yeah...this my sound simple minded or something..but just stop. if its an uncontrollable urge...pick up the phone(when said urge strikes) and just call a friend...you don't even have to tell them why your calling...it dosnt even have to be a friend...just busy your mind until the feeling passes. JUst please..stop hurting your self!!!!!!!

it is just take it one day at a time like any one recovering from something. that's all you can do. there will be days were you slip and start to do it again and then there are days were you are like wow i have not cut my self in 3 months.

    Lotsa adolescents 'outgrow it'.
There's lotsa ways, I dunno, more 'healthy' to express yourself.

Sure, just go for the throat, that will put an end to it.
