Help answer this question below.
Those who are in minority positions often are intolerant of those who they consider in a more minority or less favorable position than themselves. It's like they need to see someone in a less favorable light. Misery doesn't love company, it loves a more favorable position than someone else.
I would think so, but sometimes people who you would expect more tolerance from; have their own prejudice and are not even aware that they are doing to someone else exactly what they would not want someone to do to them. I have a lesbian friend who I found doing exactly that. I pointed out to her that she was doing exactly what she couldn't tolerate in others. She was stunned. She stopped in her tracks and with realization said "I don't believe it, you're right"!
I would usually leave this to the whole passing of intolerance which happens with everything no matter what which sucks but if some one discriminates against you then usually more often then not you end up with tons of hatred as well

I've often wondered the same thing. In southern California high schools we have Latinos and African Americans fighting all the time. Both groups have suffered injustice. What is wrong with them? I understand among African Americans the lighter among them look down upon the darker among them? What is wrong with these people? How can you perpetrate against others that which you have suffered yourself? It is simply ridiculous and those who do it are quite ridiculous as far as I'm concerned. It is illogical, unreasonable and irrational. :)
You would think so huh?
Just because you belong to a group that may not be tolerated, it doesn't automatically mean that you have to tolerate all groups. Horrible example: most people don't tolerate neo-nazis but it doesn't mean the neo-nazis feel any need to tolerate other disapproved groups.
the question at hand, though, is more complicated than trans vs 'shemale'. There are gender identity, sexual identity, sexual orientation, and the like to take into consideration. One feminist, lesbian writer said that trans-women are men encroaching on the domain of women and an attempt to colonize femininity.
Perhaps most don't agree with this, but she has an audience and it's clear that being a target of social disapproval doesn't mean that you share the values of, or even respect another group

You're reading The transgendered often look down on she-males. Shouldn't one group who is the target of social disapproval be more tolerant of another group who suffer the same thing?
