Question

Help answer this question below.

I accidently put water in my oil. I was filling my radiator and had the oil cap off. Just a little bit but I assume I need to be concerned about it. Is it a 911 emergency? Can I wait a few days and just do a oil change?

Not a mechanic here, but i am going to answer under an assumption.

If the water amount was indeed small, it will probably evaporate in short haste.

Start your engine and just let it idle till it becomes thouroughly hot.

Motor oil will not evaporate, but the small amount of water will.

I have never been faced with this situation before, but common sense tells me that my theory is correct.

Check the engines oil level before starting the engine and make sure its to the full mark.

If you are not convinced of my answer, then call Autozone and ask someone there.
