The answer is not No or Yes. I have had this method used for over 10 years now and has never been pregnant (knock on wood) It's basically a luck of the draw, so some people have experienced luck with it. I wouldn't ADVISE it though

It's a great method to insure that you will get pregnant. It's worthless as birth control

The question should really be: "Do you trust your partner to 'pull out' on every occasion that you have intercourse prior to the release of *any* ejaculate?"

The answer is simply: no, you can't. And although humans are not fruit flies, it still takes only one sperm cell to achieve fertilization. This approach is called the "Why take the risk?" method. Condoms are cheap and they work.

The answer is definately no. When a man gets aroused, a small drop of ejaculate fluid (a.k.a pre-cum) leaks from the urethra...whether he has inserted or not. This fluid occurs because it lubricates the urethra for easier sperm release. Men can't usually feel this happening, and if they are penetrating and thrusting, they definately won't.
Also, it is hard for most men to pull out before ejaculation. It takes a lot of endurance. They won't think when coming to an orgasm (did you ever hear the phrase "only enough blood to run one organ (brain or penis) at a time"?) Do you think when having an orgasm? Other then (OH YES!) I doubt it. So trust me, don't rely on this method. It can land you in a world of trouble.
    Hope this helps.

The answer is no. See Kim Siever's answer here: http://www.answerbag.com/q_view.php/3148 I know, at least, 2 people who used this method and got pregnant.

Not really because of pre-ejaculate. You could be getting her preggers and not even know it. Wear a jimmy hat and then yank it off at the moment of explosion, and do whatcha gotta do. Best of both worlds, junior.

The withdrawal method as well as the rythm method of birth control CAN be effective if you use them correctly and in conjunction with home ovulation kits to predict the time of ovulation for the woman so that another method of birth control can also be used during her fertile days.

Neither of these methods is effective protection against STDs.

Ask a bunch of parents who used the technique.

Not only is this a poor method of birth control, it does nothing to prevent the risk of STD's which, just like pregnancy, can change your life forever.

In my experience, no. Simple as that. You can't always ensure that no semen will enter the vagina prior to pulling out; pre-ejaculate fluid does exist and is notorious for containing sperm, too.

The "pull out" method is not a good method of birth control -- you leak sperm containing semen prior to ejaculation. Just be glad that SHE is using birth control -- because the 'pull out' method is totally unreliable.
Your best friend for birth control? A condom.

    No it doesn't.

There is ejaculate and preejaculate that is enough to cause an accidental pregnancy.

Use a condom! It will keep you safe from the diseases that pulling out wont!

I know it works. If the man has enough self control to pull out. My husband and I have used this method for over 9 years with not one close call. We have two children that were conceived prior to this.

Yes for me it has been a great method!!! I hate birth control and with many woman developing cancer and overy problems due to some birth control..(anything that can stop mother natures ''period'')Isnt natural or good 4 your body and carries a list of side effects. I have to say from personal experience some men have lots of pre-cum and some almost none..maybe its higher risk for them with lots but my husband doesnt have a lot..if you use just a dab of spermicide and use the pull out method you should be more then fine and can avoid gaining weight and nasty side effects of some birth control. I have used this method usually by its self for 7 years between my children and the only time I (left it in)was the time my son was conseved..so for 7 years I had no problems at all..and I am very fertile only took me one try for both kids and I was pregnate..If you would rather use this method but are scaird, do like I said and use a dab of spermicide it will provide lubrication and keep you from worry..just make sure you are with the same guy as you can still contract STDs this way..hope this helps!!

Not even 50% effective. You have to keep in mind that sperm swim, all it takes is a few that are close enough and they can find their way to that egg.

No. There are fluids in the pipeline that make their way out in the course of sex, which may have residual sperm cells. Plus, with the withdrawal method, there is no guarantee of expert timing. When the method is used, pregnancy frequently results.

No, it's not effective. Some men pre-ejaculate (pre-cum or whatever) and although it is not completely semen it can hold SOME sperm, trust me that's all you need. This doesn't protect you against STD's unless you & your partner are in a monogamous relationship I suggest condoms.....but that's just me.

I am convinced it is how able the man is to gauge when he will ejaculate. I know there is about three seconds between when my orgasm starts and when I ejaculate. No mistakes in 11 years--maybe 30 partners. The only time I got a girl pregnant was when I repeatedly came inside of her. I had very good luck with STDs. I am very physically active and do a lot of yoga and I think people who are not so in-touch with their bodies have less of a grasp on how and when the semen shoots.

No because there is this little tricky stuff called "premature ejaculation" and many guys don't know when this is coming. It also contains sperm and can easily get you pregnant, even if he pulls out before he actually cums.

everyone on here keeps talking about precome, which actually contains no sperm and won't get you pregnant. in fact, some studies have shown methods such as spermicidal foam to be LESS effective than the pull-out method (which, when performed perfectly, is actually close to 80 per cent effective). if you were to pull out, ejaculate, and then keep going, pregnancy would be a definite possibility. and be honest, can you really pull out in time, EVERY time?

It works to an extent. The problem is that it's difficult for the man to get out on time every time. I think the success rate is only like 73%, not real good odds. Eventually you'll slip one through, if you know what I mean. Having said that, I used it for a year once and was successful, so go figure.

It will be her Birth Control that is working not the withdrawal method.

Even precum will have some semen in and without the Birth Control that could cause pregnancy.
