I bring my lunch to work everyday now and am eating much more healthy and cheaply. I also have extra time so I take walks down by the river. So I'm now saving money, eating healthy and getting some exercise all during the workday. It's been two months and I feel so much better...more energy...clothes are fitting better.

I've cut my showering to once per day in the morning and just take a sponge bath at night. We keep the thermostat on the a/c at 75-77 degrees in the summer. I wash my hair only twice a week because it takes a very long time to dry on a diffuser setting and that wastes electric. Also I don't have to color my hair as much if I'm not washing away the color.

Turn the burner off that heats the hot water unless we want to take showers or do something that needs hot water in which case we turn it back on. Five minutes and, voila, hot water.

Thrift stores man. For clothing, stuff for around the house, basically everything that doesn't need to be new, I've spent maybe about a tenth of what I would in retail over the last few years. ps-If you have kids, there is no other way to go for the clothes they will wreck/grow out of in a month!

I haven't, didn't need to. But since the baseball season ends at the end of August, will unintentionally cut costs by not going to every game. This was the first year I bought season tickets, and made sure to attend every game and it's been worth it. Hockey season starts in November, thinking of season tickets there, so an offset may be in the future.

I make my own laundry detergent with borax, washing soda, and Fels Naptha. It costs only 10 cents a load and works just as good as commercial brands http://ecomaidsofla.com/blog

I live 13.5 to 15 miles from the office of my job, depending on the route. Shower facilities are available there. I have arranged to where I leave a bag with two changes there and ride the bicycle to work a couple days a week. The fuel savings goes a long way, including paying for the winter cycling gear. It is good for the attitude and the health as well as for the wallet.

Buy store brand items instead of brand names in supermarkets.
