Help answer this question below.
depends on the CD and if the case is still in good condition. best bet is to look on ebay, do a search for closed auctions and see if any CDs like yours have sold and for what. also check to see what is currently like yours being sold. tough competition! good luck and congrats on thinking outside the box to raise some money!
What Sherri posted was right on the money as far as an answer, but I would also take it a few steps further.
The bottom line with selling ANYTHING is that you NEVER want to take a loss. The way to do this is to find out what IS selling and IS popular. If you want to sell a Lady Gaga CD, you will be competing with 500 other people. If you are selling a limited edition vinyl record of that Lady Gaga record, you will probably be alone.
People do this ALL the time during the holidays! They figure out what the kids will want, but a ton of them and then do a 50-100% markup and sell it on E-bay to parents who are deathly afraid of not getting their spoiled little brat what the are demanding for Christmas. :-)
I sell stuff on E-bay and Amazon all the time, but ONLY if I am going to make a profit. You have to factor in what it will cost you in time, money and postage to list and mail your CD, and then say, "is it worth it?" E-bay has both upfront fees they charge, AND fees once the item sells, so they double dip. Amazon will list your item for free AND credit you money to ship the item, BUT they take a 25% commission after the item sells. Amazon also has other merchants who do major volume business, so they might always be able to trump your sale price and make it lower because they make up for the lower price in quantity sales...like Wal-Mart, etc..
As a consumer, I WILL shop around. If I am on E-bay and see your CD, lets say, selling for $5, and $3 for S/H, and there is the same CD being sold by another merchant for a "Buy It Now" price of $6 with FREE S/H...guess who I am buying from.
On E-bay as on Amazon, your feedback rating is of VITAL importance. People want to deal with merchants they can TRUST. I guard my ratings on both, like I do my credit report.
I know I'm a year late answering this, but I just joined and hope I can help you out.
