Social security I have recently retired from teaching in the public schools after only 15 years. I turn 70 today. I have been collecting widows benefits. How will my social securtiy be affected once I start receiving my pension?

    If your teacher's pension is based on wages that were not covered by SS, then your widow's benefit may be subject to a reduction due to Government Pension Offset.

    If you withdraw your contributions and make yourself ineligible for the pension, then your widow's benefit would not be affected.
