I use popcap and never got a virus check it actually is popcap and you should have a good antivirus and firewall installed.I use Zone alarm and Avg free and never had a virus yet. Go to "shields up" website and run their test they will tell you if you are vulnerable.
A good well worth looking into backup program for Image harddrives or Recovery is from Acronis: PC Backup and Recovery.
From their website they do have a 14 day trial of Acronis Migrate Easy 7.0, but well worth buying.
I bought the PC Backup and Recovery for $50, well worth it considering Lifetime Updates and can install on multiple machines. It also has the ability of creating boot discs, just incase your system tends to fail.
But as free boot discs do diagnose PCs, look into UBCD v4.11, it was new from last I had checked, but has everything for you to repair a PC. Ultimate Boot CD is free and you shouldn't have to pay for it. Same with Hiren's Boot CD.
To burn ISO (Image) Files, I use Slysoft CloneCD and/or CloneDVD. After downloading the boot CD Images.

You're reading Will a download from PopCap.com give my computer a virus?

I would suggest using Malwarebytes Anti-Malware to be used on your computer instead of AVG or ZoneAlarm, they do nothing to find viruses, they just sit there. Don't believe me?? I repair PC's all the time and AVG does not stop anything. But to make sure you don't get a virus, if you happen to visit that site, get the malwarebytes to scan your computer and remove those viruses.

I was speaking just from my own experience and have only ever had a prolem with virus once. It was actualy downloaded by a repair shop that had removed my avg and that had a corrupt driver. When we got the PC back it didnt boot properly. we got it to boot eventually and I went onto the web to download and scan with avg. On scanning, it detected and quarantined two viruses but was unable to repair one in system 32 files. It already caused too much damage.I have used AVG and zone alarm without problems for 5 years . I also use ad aware and spybot.

Ad Aware and spybot are not that strong anymore compared to
Malwarebytes and SuperAntiSpyware
and If you are looking for a registry error cleaner, try using
CCleaner, free as well, cleans internet cookies and cache, and ur errors. Guaranteed to Find errors and repair them.

thanks. Will do. Do you know of a reliable free ware programme that will burn a boot disc. My lap top has no disc and the installed "NTI Backup Now" programme is not installed properly. no luck with the manufacturer. Not happy to pay to reinstall if I dont have to.
