could be degraded wiring or an alternator getting ready to crap out
i have had every single problem you could possibly have with my 99 mazda protege. you will need to look at the socket where you put the light bulb into. Most likely it is melted and will need to be replaced.

Hi, I'm needing some help with my 99 mazda protege. The headlights seem to work whenever it feels like it (low beams) so I have to constantly use my high beams. What could be the problem and is it expensive to fix?? I'm tired of pissing everyone off!

You're reading I have a 99 mazda protege that the left headlight is dim. When I turn the high beam on there is no change, and sometimes the left light shuts off. I have replaced the bulb already, any ideas?
