Any person whose task it is to monitor and control movements of aircraft within a controlled airspace. Most commonly used to manage traffic around airfields and airports.
The ATC maintains radio communication with all aircraft, and uses ground based RADAR to detect and position aircraft.
Has radar technology in commercial aircraft really become more advanced or changed much in technical terms over the last 30 years?
