If they have laid eggs, and it's warm humid weather, those eggs can hatch into maggots in just a few hours. That's disgusting.
i wouldnt eat it,flies are filthy
flies are nasty but land on everything, idk about the egg laying thing, but if you stop eating things flies land on you are going to starve, throw away the part that was used as a landing strip and keep eating

Check, if it is eggs, it is protein but if it is fly poop, no you don't want that.

A fruit fly landed on my apricot mango yogurt, and I didn't realize it was there until after I put a spoonful in mouth. Perhaps I'll die?

Very disgusting indeed. How would you know if a fly was doing that Galeanda? Are there things, besides the normal things you do, to keep that from happening? Yuck! I dont ever want to see a fly again!

I just make sure they don't even walk on my food, but they usually don't lay eggs really quick, they like to hang out a bit first, pick a nice spot. So I'd say just using common precautions and shooing them away will do. Keep things covered if possible :-)

Thanks Galeanda for taking the time to answer my question. Makes me feel better about a rather unpleasant subject.:):)
