OK, if the car will *crank* (starter motor runs) but not *start*, then you have one of three basic problems: 1) No spark (most common) 2) No fuel (less common) 3) No air/compression (rare) Instead of throwing parts at the problem, you need to figure out which of the 3 things is not right (or pay someone to do it). BTW, the 'noisy box' is probably your anti-lock braking system (ABS) pump, which cycles every time you turn the key on. It has nothing to do with the no-start condition.

Now how to figure out if you have no spark.... pull on of the spark plug wires off the plug stick a screwdriver in the end. don't touch the metal part of the screw driver!! hold the screw driver about 1/8 of an inch from a metal part of the engine. have a helper try to start the engine. spark should jump the gap between the screw driver and the engine block. if not NO SPARK. Now some of the easy stuff...... Inertial fuel cutoff switch. There is a fuel cutoff switch located in the passenger compartment of the car, most likely on the passengers side in front of the door behind the kick pannel. it is just a little push button.
