If you're not willing to share your life and everything in it with this person, and if you believe there's a chance you will someday separate from this person, why are you even considering moving in together?
It's a presonal decision, but I belive a prenuptial is that same thing as saying, "This'll be fun for a while, but don't expect it to last."
I was in a similar situation. To soften things up, I told him that we should sign a transmutation agreement. It basically removes all of the presumptions of the "community." The only joint property would be whatever the two of you co-mingled. This works in California, but I suggest to make sure that this plan would work in Canada.

You're reading I bought a house on my own and my boyfriend will be moving in. In Canada, after 6mo. you are commonlaw and your partner can get half of everything you own if you break up. Should I have him sign a prenuptual? Or will it put a strain on our relationship?

I think you are right. I have a bad feeling about prenups, but I have a "friend" (my boss actually) who is pressuring me to have one, saying it will be for the best. I truly want to be with this person forever - he is so wonderful. I think it would be an insult. I guess there is my answer. I will just have to tell my boss to f-off haha. fun.
