The pimple-like dots of rubber that are on a rubber sheet. They can come in about 3 kinds of rubber.(antispin rubber is not known)

Pips in (smooth inverted rubber with pips that face the blade with a sponge b/t the blade and the rubber)-Spinnier than other rubbers, usually has less control compared to other rubbers mostly used for the modern table tennis game

Pips out (pips are facing outward)- Has less spin than smooth rubber but when a ball is hit w/ pips out, it falls more quickly than smooth.

Long Pips (pips that are longer, usually the maximum length to ITTF regulations)-reverses spin of opponent and used mostly by defensive players to produce a 'trick' that makes it difficult for the opponent to read the spin. Used mostly on one side of a paddle.
