Help answer this question below.
Realize that love and lust are two entirely different things for starters.
Phileo = brotherly love, as how men love one another.
Eros = romantic love, as how a man loves a woman.
Agape = unconditional love, as how God loves us.
Using the appropriate meaning of love clears us hundreds of misunderstandings. Do you get it now?
One is selfless, the other is selfish. When you love someone as yourself you are considering there needs and putting them ahead of yourself, when you commit adultery you are putting your wants on the front burner and your self control is out the window. Two completely different things as I see it.
masturbation is not love, its self-indulgence. Extract that implication from your question and there is no issue.
Love and sex aren't equals. If you paid a prostitute would you love her/him? i doubt it.
If your only definition of love involves sex, then you are a very shallow human being.
You can love your neighbor as another human being, but not have sex w/them.
Adultery has zero to do with love
The " love" mentioned here is nor sexual love, but is "agape" love. the love you have for your aunty , mother or father.
Or for a good friend.
I don't know about YOU
but I try VERY hard
not to @#$! myself.
It does not mean true love or lust, because the Bible tells us to love our neighbor, and how can we love someone we do not know, or have never met?
But 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 gives us the definition of "love"
"4Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres."
So it basically means to follow the Golden Rule...do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
Just treat other people the way you want them to treat you.....be nice, kind, loving, patient, etc....just like the verse says. :)
God bless!
BY practicing a 'principled' love, not the sexual kind. There are many kinds of love, including love of friends, family, ideals, etc.
The 'love' is not sexual...It is 'agape' love...the sort of love a nephew would have for an elderley aunt.
Well, keithold, if you were gonna use that literal a definition of the word "love", doesn't that make masturbating adulterous?
(!)
;-)
They love you are commanded to feel is called platonic love. It's supposed to be void of passion.
If you love yourself you would not do your self harm. Therefore do not do anything to others that you would not do to yourself.
There are different forms of "love".
"Love thy neighbor as thyself," means to give respect and consideration to any other human being the same as you expect for yourself.
I'm quite sure you aren't seriously suggesting that this commandment is to be interpreted as license to commit adultry.
the next time you buy a new car for your self,
buy one for your neighbor too.
oral
When I love myself, it is nothing sexual.
You can love without having sex.
You love yourself because you accept yourself. You forgive yourself of anything, do so with your neighbor Wilbur.
You love yourself by taking care of yourself. You feed and clothe yourself, you provide for your necessities and recreations. Should you do less for your neighbor, especially your neighbor in need?
What do you think of Deuteronomy 22:28-29? I personally think this would severely reduce rape if made Law as God wanted it.
