Theoretically, yes. But I think that we shouldn't do it, those animals wouldn't really be animals, we would lose all our values of species, for example : why not kill whales, if we could bring them back. Those who are dead, are dead and they shouldn't be brought back, death would lose its value and so would life.

I think it might eventually be possible, but we shouldn't do that.
I do think though that we should spend our money and energy on making sure that the animals that are still there will not go extinct! Not by keeping them in a zoo, but by preserving and protecting their natural environment.

We might someday make similar species using old dna, but there would still be differences, and they would have to carve out a whole new niche for themselves. Probably not the best use of finite resources, other than as a scientific curiosity.

Theoretically it is possible, provided they can get enought DNA to make it happen. There is talk of using Elepants as mothers and putting Mastodon DNA in them to bring these creatures back to life. But it has not happened yet.

No, and no. It is currently completely impossible, as well as the fact that the web of life that is the biosphere compensates for extinction the moment a species is gone. They have no place as the earth has moved on. she feels no remorse, regret, or sympathy.

I doubt it. But if it was possible my answer would be no since we as a human race would not take responsibility for our actions

"Is it possible to recreate an extinct animal" <== Yes, but only the ones we have the DNA to. The people who say no are incorrect unless they mean "at this time".
    .
"and if so, should we??" <== of course.

I recently watched 60 minutes about this very subject. Scientists are presently working on a recreation of a dinosaur. They expect to have one within 5 years. Should they? Damned if I know what to think. There are enough animals now so I am not sure what relevance having dinosaurs would have.

There are news articles all around that say that scientists can recreating the genome, but they need funding and also they need votes to say that they can recreate the animal. So in theory, yes scientists can recreate an animal. As for the second question, no they should not, they were extinct in the first place, for most likely a good reason. And that's the reason why scientists don't recreate animal series. There are scientists out there trying to push their theory's and experiments through, but the government won't allow it.
