How do you pronounce the acronym WHO (for World Health Organization)? I pronounce it "who," but a friend says it's only ever pronounced "double-you aitch oh." Did I make this up or pick it up? I grew up in the Midwest. Thanks!

• Oh, I wasn't blaming my Midwestern roots, I just wondered if it was a
  regionalism. But Cowtipper (now THERE'S a name I would have tagged as
  Midwestern) says s/he's from New York (where I've lived for 25 years),
  so I guess it's not that.
  BTW, I pronounce PETA pee-tah...like someone from Boston saying "Peter."
