Hey there! What i suggest is that you begin to sing as often as you can. Listen to good singers and see what you can learn from then.
And there IS a computer program you can use to get better! And I guarantee that it works. It's called Singing Success by Brett Manning. It helps you sing in tune, sing higher notes, and with POWER!! You definitely need to take lessons probably or at least some advise from someone who has that can actually show you and help you... singing isn’t just about hitting notes and being on key... you need to learn how to breath while singing, learn how to use your larynx through different exercises.. There is just so much involved...

Dont rely solely on a computer program on the net to help your voice. Try going to your local music store and checking out what books and cd's they have there on vocal exercises and techniques. oh and getting some professional lessons woulden't hurt :)
