Does the show M*A*S*H appeal more to those that served in the military?

    I seriously doubt it. MASH is a political parody, a satire of the establishment in its best form, only anti-war people and freethinkers can see the truism in the show, the critique of the military complex and the government and how it exposes it all in its grand stupidity and futility

    I have NO military background, am apolitical. Nor even American born!

    Yet I very much enjoyed (can still enjoy) the tv series. Both for its humour and its spirit. Along with each of the characters and how they interacted.

    I doubt it. M*A*S*H became a soapbox for left winger Alan Alda when he began producing and writer for the show.

    I worked with a guy who was always talking about his days serving in the Gulf War as much as he did about the show MASH (talking about them like they were real people).
