No, not really, but, I can't think of any reason why I would jump out of a perfectly good airplane.

Yes, but only on top of buildings and such, not in planes, helicopters, ferris wheels, etc. I have no idea why - probably my natural instinct that says "falling is bad!" is just a little more sensitive than other people's. :)

i'm scared of heights. even if it's only a few flights of stairs above the ground. i'm not sure what started this, but i always get the sensation of falling backwards that makes me feel so insecure. i'm the person on the escalator that has to lean completely forward and hold on for dear life so i don't fall backwards.

Yes. I have pretty much always had it, but ever since an ex boyfriend fell down one and died, it has been worse.

No, not afraid. I am more afraid of the ground and statistics don't lie about the safety in the air.

Only in the last three to four years have I become extremely fearful of heights. I have no idea why this has happened, but it is crippling.

At the local college there are some programs that are free for the students and faculty. Plays, Symphony concerts and such. My daughter and I had enjoyed going to these concerts/plays but last year they decided that all students would only get free tickets for the balcony-I tried it but broke out in major sweat, even when I was sitting and people were walking by the edge of the balcony. Luckly, we always got an end of isle seat where they have hand rails for those walking up to grab, I had a death grip on that rail through the whole show. My daughter usually sits in that seat but not for these shows, I was even too scared to stand and give an ovation. We only saw two shows that year and none this year, it's a shame but that's life.

Great question, hope this helps your inquiry.

    God Bless,
    <:))))<><

Only when I am outside and I have no idea why. It's ben a fear of mine since I was little. Growing up in Brooklyn we lived near alot of elevated subway lines and
I remember from the time I was a kid til now as an almost 46 year old adult now living in Philadelpha near another elevated subway line I will always hug one of the pillars on the platform til the train comes in for fear I will fall to my death. Come to think of it I do the same thing underground as well on the subways.

I also won't go out on a balcony in an apartment or hotel room that is above the 2nd or 3rd floor and I won't walk across a bridge that has a pedestrian walkway. I had to do that once on the afternoon of 9/11 and people had to surround me so I wouldn't be able to see what I was doing or else I would have freaked out walking across the Brooklyn Bridge

A little. Once I am up high for a while I will get use to it and my fear will pass. But, I like to scare myself so sometimes I will be fine and other times I start to think of what it would be like if I fell and than the fear will comes back.

    yup.

not really, i jumped off a bridge into the colorado river a few times. that was pretty dang high up and i had to walk out on a beam that was about 2-3 feet wide to get to the point where the river was deep enough. i'll probably go skydiving somewhere along the line. good times.

I'm not afraid of heights in the slightest.
I'm actually quite comfortable with heights.

I used to be mildy afraid of heights when I was very young, mostly because my mum was terrified of them, and I must have picked up on her influence.
But I've definitely grown out of that particular phobia, because heights just don't bother me at all anymore.

I'm not, but my mother is.

She thinks it stems from an experience she had as a child--her mom knew she was scared of big rides, but she made her ride the Ferris Wheel at the carnival, and of course it got stuck at the top for about a half an hour. My mom (about 8 at the time) was terrified and cowered in the bottom of the car the entire time and has been completely frightened of being up high ever since.

Yes interestingly enough. This fear disappears if I'm roped in a harness (rock or mountain climbing) or parachuting (odd hobbies for someone who's afraid of heights aren't they?) Perhaps I'm not so much afraid of heights, but rather fear death and serious injury...
