    It is true that many Irish people are short but the answer is No. I work with a man from Ireland who is 6'4" and my fomer boss who is also 100% Irish was 6'5". Recenty five busloads of adults from Ireland who were here for a conference visited the company where I work and a large meeting was held in the multi-purpose room. With hundreds of Irish present, they were of all shapes and sizes, including some very tall men and women. Great question!

    There are fairy tales about Lepercons roaming the land but not all the Irish are Lepercons.
    I believe the average height of Irish men is 5'7", Irish women 5'5".

    Historically(the last few centuries) the Irish people were one of the shortest people in Europe because of economic disadvantage imposed by British rule. The staple diet of Irish peasants in the British regime was potatoes and grain. When the British were finally removed from Ireland and Irish people started to consume a normal European diet the average height started to rise. Today the young Irish generation are on average taller than most of their European counterparts except perhaps Scandinavians.

    pretty much. cork men seem to be tall. im 5'4 and im the tallest in my family, my boyfriend is 5'7. the good ol vikings came and gave us a bit of height though, so theres lots of 6fters.
