As a vegetarian and health conscious person, when traveling down south, I had a much harder time finding things I could eat. Everything was fried and very few vegetarian choices. Even hard to find salads. Most were just iceberg lettuce shredded cheese and croutons ewww.

Fried chicken, fried fish, fried snapping turtle, fried everything. They also tend to drink a lot of pop or sweet tea in the heat. As the saying goes, sweet tea is the house wine of the south.

It seams the diet in those states consists of much deep fried meats, which include allot of fat as from pig meat. That combined with little exercise will cause obesity.Their menus and types of cooking foods, without deep frying, need to change. The thinnest state is Colorado.

The heat most likely. Even a thin fella like myself can almost drop dead just trying to walk from the door of his house to his truck when the humidity is high in the southern summer. Imagine what that would be like if you were obese and tried to go for a walk - let alone for a jog. Come to think of it nobody i know jogs down here this far south in NM either. If the rattlers didn't getcha the javalinas would.
