Do you think the press play a role in antagonising society into radical behaviour and that sensationalism is what is now selling news reports and newspapers

I blamed the press for a long time, but then I learned about business, and after all they only do it because people read it, and make money. A better question is why do people care about things like that.

I think the press is selling news through sensationalism to be sure. Journalists are a rare thing these days; gossip-mongers are pouring trite and irrelevant "new" into our ears each day.

However, I don't think they wittingly or unknowingly antagonize the general public into radical action. Did the overblown story of Anna Nicole Smith's death spur us into any kind of protest? Has the one-side coverage of the "war" in Irag sparked widespread rebellion? Most of us sit on the couch and listen to news stories with a merely a passing interest. Relentless coverage of often meaningless stories only does more to instill a sense of apathy toward world events.

- I think that those getting most of the nightly news regarding bombers are in the Western world and are far too engrossed in their lives to give them up for a cause. As for the younger generation who will become radicals bent on violence and suicide, I think indoctrination comes largely from religion and induction into radical groups. I can't prove it, but I think it takes more than news stories to transform a person into such a radical.

Not always intentionally, but when they report some stories they can anticipate the outcome.

We have become numb to the "regular" murder or robbery.

- This should not surprise you. The media has to report so quickly they can't get all of the facts straight before the story gets out.

- No surprise I just think that if it is to be reported report it correctly not fill in the blanks with guesses, if this is all reporters do, give me a notebook

- by the time the truth has been discovered, the news cycle is on to the next story. It is sad, but that is what 24 hour news has done to the truth
