  • Evidence regarding The Book of Mormon is somewhat important to me, but not paramount in how I view it. Anytime someone offers specific evidence "proving" The Book of Mormon, I cringe at the prospect of that "evidence" being disproven or proven to be irrelevant to The Book of Mormon. Such errors make it harder for others to accept this book and take it seriously.
  • I’d say that’s a bit overreaching, for me. To claim that evidence “doesn’t matter” would be inaccurate, because I do care—and IMHO, the preponderance of available evidence *does* support its veracity, particularly since no one has ever come up with a reasonable, alternate explanation for its genesis. HOWEVER… Evidence is just that: evidence. There is evidence to indicate that the Bible be true; there is evidence to indicate that the Bible be false. Same goes for the Book of Mormon, human evolution, light as a wave, the competency of our elected officials, and a veritable infinity of other things and/or concepts. Thus, I find that while evidence can certainly *help* me know the truth, life’s most important questions can only be answered through prayer (despite the aforementioned preponderance of evidence). Make sense?
