  • 3 days, but this is the third time I have quit. I am 50 ish, but quit regularly (each time lasts about 6 or 7 years). Then along comes an excuse to take up the habit again (combat operations usually does it for me).
  • For me it was right away. I had stopped for awhile a couple of times before but alway's wanted to continue smoking. It was almost a constant struggle. The last time I quite (2000) I barely craved them at all. I was at a friend's house and the neighbor came running over saying that her mother had fallen in the bathroom and could we come help. We went over and her mom was lying dead on the bathroom floor. We gave her CPR until the paramedics got there but she was dead. As we gave her CPR every time I would do the chest compressions this fluid would come out of her lungs. It smelled of cigarettes and she was a smoker. I never smoked again. Even the smell of a cigarette makes me sick and before when I'd quit that never happened. I didn't want my kids to find me dead in my bathroom at 50 yrs old one day. It was horrible for her family.
  • Still do sometimes, Three years a non smoker
