  • Well obviously.
  • I've felt that way before. When I was a little girl, back in my Christian days, I couldn't help but feel God had a problem with women. It was one of the reasons I turned to Satanism for awhile. Satanism seemed to empower women. Not 100% sure of it now, but I can see what ya mean.
  • Sexism? Here are some thoughts that immediately spring to mind: Eve is credited with being "the mother of all life" (Genesis 3:20). [There is no "father of all life"]. G-d tells Abraham: "All that Sarah says to you, listen to her voice". (Genesis 21:12) It is Rachel's prayer (not any of the men) that brings salvation to the Jewish nation (Jeremiah 31:14). Talmudic commentary understands G-d's instruction to Moses prior to the Revelation at Sinai as follows: "So shall you say to the House of Jacob, and tell the Sons of Israel" (Exodus 19:3). Seeing as the latter reference is to "sons", the former must be to the women- implying that the Giving of the Law at Sinai was directed at the women FIRST. Read Numbers 27:1-11 to see how G-d took the side of five orphaned girls in a landmark inheritance case that Moses himself couldn't decide on. Deborah, a woman, lead the Israelites for 40 (peaceful) years. (Judges 5:7/ 31). Deborah also extols the Jewish heroine, Yael, for her vital role in defeating Sisera (Judges 5:24). The "sexist" Bible dedicates a full book to the life of a woman- Ruth. See the book of Esther for a great example of a woman who "saved the day"- and even had her book published as one of the 24 volumes of "Tanach", the Hebrew Bible. The wisest man of all time advises men: "He who has found a woman, has found good and has obtained favor from the L-rd". (Proverbs 19:22) Proverbs 31:10-31 is a magnificent poem in praise of women.
  • No, Genesis 3:16 is the punishment handed down to Eve (and therefore all women) for listening to and believing Satan over God. If you read a little further you will find that Adam (and therefore all men) is punished for going against God's word too. God loves all of us equally, just like any father who has more than one child. He does not discriminate due to sex. We are all equal in His eyes and heart. Great question though. God Bless, <:))))<>< TP: I guess it's all in how one reads it and what you WANT to believe it says. Neither the Bible nor God 'preach' that men should treat women like 'currency.' For the URL you left, I could give you my interpretation of what I believe the Bible is saying, but I suspect that your mind is made up, so why waste my time? According to the links that you use, you have already decided I am wrong and you are right. The Bible is called the Living Word because you can read the same verse at different times of your life and it will have a different meaning each time to fit where you are at and what it is you are needing. One of my favorite chapters is Ephesian 5. I'm not going to write the whole thing down but MY interpretation is that since Jesus paid the ultimate sacrifice to save us that we (including wives, husbands, and children) should submit to one another (our brothers and sisters in our Lord) out of that LOVE. We love and submit to each other because Christ first loved us. In that same way, in a married relationship, the beginning of the equation is not submission, but love. A husband's loving interaction with his wife will produce a willing submission to him. A wife's loving interaction with her husband will produce tender leadership on his part. Submission does NOT mean women become wimpy, doormat wives. Submission requires an inner strength to obey God. Of course, this is MY opinion. I am in NO WAY trying to change anybodys mind. To force others to believe as I do is not my way or God's. Again-God Bless, <:))))<><
  • So, you haven't opened it up yet?
  • Im not sure - there are obvious examples of G-d being a misogynist and showing favor to women. Having said that I always though since i was like 5 or 6 that women were always taking the unimportant and backseat roles. I felt that G-d had a favor with men and must have hated women. Just my interpretation as a child. Sometimes I still feel like that and hated the exclusion.
