The man is a piece of crap. Who could do such a thing in front of children? He more than likely has mental problems and is probably an abusive a--hole towards everyone in his life. I know the type. He's probably one of these guys that breeds inbred rotweillers in his back yard and who finds sufferring in others a big turn-on. Guys like him need to be made an example of. It would be nice to see this guy fed to the pigs.

Pet owners should keep their animals on a leash. I'm tired of people letting their dogs roam freely then acting surprised if the dog savages a child. Cats may be smaller and won't be a threat to life but that doesn't mean they can be allowed to roam free if they're prone to scratching people. What if the same cat had scratched a 2 year old child across the eyes? Dog bites me, dog dies. Cat scratches me, cat is kicked through the nearest brick wall.

He should have to pay a VERY heavy fine and do many hours of community service, but they will probably let him off with just a warning, if it is his first offense.

I think he should be jailed, and that the mom should sue for damages and for treatment for her child since she will no doubt need therapy.

I wasn't there. If the cat went out of her way to attack him and his dog he had no way to know if it was rabid or otherwise insane but attacking a human and a dog is a pretty good indication. . Leave the children out of the equation. Although they are important they don't actually enter into the criminality of the situation one way or another. . I would posit that the cat attacked the dog, the man pulled the cat off of the dog, was scratched and, having a furious, insane-looking ball of claws and teeth in his hands decided to kill it. . Not good but not as out of line as some people are suggesting. Remember that he was minding his own business and presumably walking his leashed dog on a public walk when he was attacked out of nowhere. . I am very sorry that the kids witnessed that. They will get over it unless the trauma is positively reinforced. By protest organizers for example.

That is the worst!! Did you all read on in the article? it said she had just birthed a litter of kittens! From expirence momma cats change drastically when they have babies, i had one cat who was the meanist little thing but as soon as she had babies she had a total different personality. the article also never mentioned how badly he got scratched, if hes mean enought to kill her for it i bet he was provoking her in the begining in order for her to scratch him. Thats their only defence!! Give him a hour with me and i doubt he would ever hurt another animal again!!

I understand that the cat attacked the man and scratched him and his dog, but beating the cat to death was not necessary. I lived in Northeast PA for a time, and I used to walk through a town called Mayfield with my dog. There was a cat that used to try to attack my dog every time we walked by its house. I would see the cat running toward my dog and I would hiss and growl at it (which would stun it sometimes) and put myself between it and my dog. She tried to scratch my dog, but never succeeded, and I was able to keep walking with my dog (who, in turn, was trying to attack the cat)

If I said what I think should happen to that man I would probably be locked up myself. The life of an animal has just as much value of that of a human being. This man is SCUM and should die a death so horrible that the ordinary human mind couldn't even dream it up.
