Oh, don't get me started, keith! (lol) We are all aware of the differences in American and British spelling. I even posted a question recently about it. It was in fun but it was a valid question. At least it was not hit with DR's as so many of mine are, lately.
No.. that would be even more confusing, and I would have no idea what anyone is talking about.

Mispelt is misspelled to me, for one. Maybe there should be more than one way to spell common words.
