Our surname is Italian, so yes...let me count the ways.
Yes, but thats my dads fault for not spelling it like he intended it to be said..LOL :)
Everyday. It's my married name and it's Russian.
All the time. My name is Jacinta. Pronounced 'Ja-sin-ta'.
It's so rare people pronounce it correctly the first time that I get quite excited when they do.
I really don't understand what makes it so difficult!
Yes my name is always mispronounced, It is a cross between Gaelic and Basque imaginations,
I think my parents were feeling perverse when they decided apon it. Nobody has EVER pronounced it correctly.
That is why i use a shortened derivation of the name.
All the time. It is Tatania (ta-ta-nee-yah), and I always get (tat-ee-ana) which is completely wrong. Before the year 2000 people could just not say my name at all, then in 2000 a girl called Tatiana Gregoriava won silver at the Sydney Olympics (she represented Australia), ever since then people say her name instead of mine.
Dear god, yes. My last name. Here's how you pronounce it:
Olischar OH-lish-ar
That's really simple, because it's pronounced as it's spelled. But, for some reason, people just don't get it. Here's a few abominations:
AH-lish-er
OS-ker (Duuuuh?)
OSH-LAH-HAR
oh-SHY-ler (This one was at a Cracker Barrel in Georgia. There must not have been a whole lot of brain cells floating around in that place.)
OH-les-ker (This one is the most common.)
There have probably been others, but these ones really stand out...
Edwin seems to be an easy name to say until I got here to Thailand.
Jason Miller, no, not once in my whole life. I kinda wish someone would though, just once.

Nickels
Yes it bothers me a little but the best way to deal with it is to make a joke about it.Something like, when someone phones and asks for ....(wrong pronunciation), say that you don't know...... (wrong pronunciation) but there is a .....(correct pronunciation). Usually we both have a laugh and problem solved.
If you mispronounce Michael I feel sorry for you.
