  • of Spanish decent, or latin like this term at least describes a race. African American describes a national origin, if someone who is white lives in SA and moves to the US isn't he and African American
  • Actually the term Hispanic comprises several "races" or ethnicities. There can be Jewish, black, mestizo and white Hispanics. Hispanic refers to certain cultural and geographic elements more than it does race. Which is why you see the phrase "Black, not of Hispanic origin" on some forms, to differentiate between North American blacks, for example.
