I am thinking about transfering to Shelby, North Carolina for my job. Is it possible that I might find a peaceful country life with a small town feeling there?

You will adapt to the climate, Dodger Dude.
It may take a year or two, though.

I've been to North Carolina and South Carolina and really its nasty. Its like Florida too. Yucky... California's nastiest humid day does not compare to that at all

It is not as bad in Charlotte as Raleigh or the coast.
And I promise, it is tolerable after about a year.

Yes... but the winters are cold and filled with snow.
Trust me... the schools are better, the people are nicer, the cost of living is lower...
And you can go to the beach in the summer for vacation for a decent price!

I will warn you, the Charlotte school system is not the best...
inner-city schools...
But the suburbs are not bad...
