pretty damn good! my favorite is when a little number gets on top of a big number and they make lots of little numbers with a period in between.

    see, told ya...

It's been a while since I studied it formally and all of my degrees are in English/the humanities, but I was always good at it. I use it fairly well in everyday situations, and I sometimes read books about mathematics for recreation. I adore geometry especially. My skills are a bt rusty, however.

Terrible and that's why I am in the situation that I am in. Society ONLY values professions that use math.

I am excellent at it. My math skills earned me quick promotions and big salary increases at many jobs. At Black Diamond, I was told when I was hired that in six months my work would be reviewed and I'd receive a 10% raise in salary if it was satisfactory. What happened was I got a 25% raise in one month when the bosses saw what I could do. I was the office chief mathematician then, and everyone brought problems to me that they couldn't solve, including the chiefs themselves. Once, I set up a matrix to solve a problem, but I didn't have my books with me to find the determinent of it. My assistant was studying calculus at college, but he hadn't yet studied matrices, so I looked in his book for the solution, rather than going home for my books.

Funny thing...while in school I was never really good with numbers but, I ended up getting a job in a bank, I loved it so much and continually advanced in the yrs that I was employed, I ended up the Manager!! Ironic!! I have an incredible memory with numbers, don't ask me what someone's name is?

Funny you should ask this because my hubby and I were discussing this just the other day.

He feels that anyone can be good at math and I said I guess I just don't want to be - because I am pretty bad!

It all depends if it's important to you and if you really want to learn it.

    I can count to ten...:)

I think I'm pretty decent. (although I hate geometry) While in class, I did great with A's and B's, but I wouldn't be so hot now with those same classes. For me, "If you don't use it, you lose." applies. If I were refreshed on formulas and the like, I'd be great again. :)

Minored in math applications. I'm pretty good at math, but when I look at what some of the reknowned mathematicians put on paper today, it makes me look like a first grader.

I did 6 years of extra maths in High School, the I stopped liking it. (too many more interesting things in my life)
When my son was around 11, I picked it up again, infected him with the math virus in a most treacherous way, via fractals ( http://library.thinkquest.org/26242/full/ )
the Julia and Mandelbrot things: http://www.google.com/search?q=fractals&hl=en&safe=off&biw=960&bih=620&prmd=ivns&source=lnms&tbm=isch&ei=1flYTvmXIoGEOpj4sakM&sa=X&oi=mode_link&ct=mode&cd=2&sqi=2&ved=0CBYQ_AUoAQ and his first little computer.
We programmed the fractals in DOS1.0, then it took the computer a night to calculate and display them, thus he got a 8036 rather soon. After that I offered him the math book they used in the year above his. He read it like a Bible Belt kid discovering his first Playboy magazine.
Now he's a ph.dr. in math and physics.
    ...
"La vie n'est bonne qu'à deux choses, découvrir les mathématiques et enseigner les mathématiques" [life is only good for two things, discovering mathematics and teaching them ~Siméon Poisson --French mathematician]

Horrible. In fact, when I took my college placement test, you couldn't use a calculator unless the calculator button on screen was highlighted (i took a touchscreen test), and so because of my lack of being able to use a calculator, I got a 38% on my math test. But apparently it was good enough to put me in Math 96, which is Introductory Algebra so...yeah.

One time I also failed a math class in my junior year, although that was the only class I ever failed. Stupid thing was...I failed it by 3%. I needed a 61% to pass...I got a 58%. I was so mad. But then I retook the class and got a C somehow.

Hopefully i'll be able to cram a ton of the garbage I mean fun formulas into my brain this semester.

I was good at math but disliked the structure of algebra. I'm forcing myself to do it now though in college.

Not the best, but better than a whole lot of people apparently. I scored way above most of the people on the govt tests. I would like to know how many of them failed. That way I could get an idea of the real numbers.

    -equations better than most
    - geometry not bad
    - Graphing terrible
    - formulas great at doing (still have 90% of the formulas memorized)
