Would you loot if you were in a mass panic situation? (I would LOL!)

I wouldn't be hauling off big ticket electronics. But it is entirely possible that I would be taking food items. I'd still feel awful about it, though :( +5

I wouldn't fall into mass panic. But in a post-apocalyptic survival situation I would utilize any available resource.
The people that were stranded in New Orleans after Katrina were in a bad situation. Many did not have the means to travel and had little choice. Those that were stealing TVs and such from Walmart were just STEALING. Those that were getting canned food from the markets were just surviving and I can't fault them for that.

Hmm, good question, and kinda tough to say. I can say this though: Mass panic is almost like guerrilla warfare, where the only one rule left after all the others have been thrown out, is to be the one still standing when all the chaos is over. Basically, people's own fear is turning against them and causing the very panic they're trying to escape, and that's when the survival instinct kicks in. And once it's activated, it does not stop until everything endangering the person has gone away. So since it stays there until the end, it's going to make people do crazy and near insane things to survive until it's all over. And being that I'm easily prone to panic (one of my life's lemons I suppose), I would most likely be looting stores to survive (so long as no one was around to see it).

i guess it depends on the panic that was going on. if it was a riot probably, but if it was a scary incident like 9/11 then no. but the do make those plasma tvs pretty light to carry now lol.

Honestly, if people were dieing off, I might "strip the dead" for cash, cigarettes and weapons, but I wouldn't go into any homes or stores to steal anything.
