Chaos.
-
everyone would create his own rules and judge those who don't behave acording to those rules

i'd be off to rob the x-box shop for a start

Ever read Lord of the Flies? I personally believe man is anything but innately altruistic. Even as some animal pack work together to survive, I think man's fear and greed would cause humans to seek only what satisfied them at the expense of anyone else. That's anarchy, chaos and eventually the elimination of a species.

You'd probably really find out who your friends are

Which type of rules? Do you mean written rules? Codified law? Social rules? Scientific rules? If there were no written or codified rules, not much would change. Each species (and for humans, culture) contains unwritten rules that are socialized into individuals and enforced by society. It is very hard to enforce a rule that no one believes in. I don't see these rules (norms) not existing. However, if they did, it would be complete anarchy - every person for herself or himself. As for other laws, such as those of science, they merely describe universal truths. If they ceased to exist, so would existence as we know it. (Imagine if we no longer had gravitational attraction between matter, for example.)

i think that everyone would move to belgium, and we all be packed in very tightly. And helicopter feeding ships would pour hot warming and soothy nice soup from the heavens. And we say, 'Belgium you er you erm you you.......SUPRISE ME!'
-
The end of existance as we know it!

I agree with AntiGone's answer. If there were no rules or laws, people with similar attitudes would simply end up grouping together. In any group situation, there's unwritten, unspoken rules that come into play. Why don't I go punch some random dude in a group on the street? Because I know I'll probably get beat down if I do. Anyway, there would most definitely be a period of chaos, but eventually groups would emerge with more power than the others and start making new rules to exert influence on all the others.

We'd have nothing to rebel against.

I'd win.

chaos and mayhem. everyone would be law unto themselves.

The argument that existentialists make. They argue that there is no god, of any form or sort, that you live your own life with the choices you make for yourself and no one else, that there is no such thing as an afterlife and that once you're dead you're dead so you live your life entirely for yourself. This would mean that there would technically be no consequences if you were to say, kill the next person you come across for absolutely no reason. Just because you can. Or because you want to. Because there is no eternal punishment or afterlife, and you only live to make your own lot in life better. That there is no point in existence except to make your own existence as cushy as you can whatever ways you want. No restrictions, no punishments, no guilt or conscience, or human decency for that matter. It is a disturbing idea.

Sheer, complete and utter chaos - a 'state of nature'. However, I don't think that would be the constant state of affairs. After the euphoria of 'hey I can do anything I want', people will be tired of protecting themselves and their assets and organisations or gangs or whatever will arise to take control.
-
well i think that after a while rules would come back becuase..rules are really made by a groups opinion..so there would be a big group that feels one way and people would agree which would turn in to new rules...but until then...chaos!!!!!!!

People would eventually make their own rules (after a bout of sheer chaos) It's kind of an odd example, but there was a programme on British TV a few years ago where some 10 year old boys were given free reign of a house for a week or so, with no adults around. The first night, they completely trashed it. Absolutely everything got broken or had paint thrown over it, all they ate was sweets and crisps and there was madness. However, the next day they woke up with stomachaches and in this tip of a house, and realised they had to do something about it. They elected a leader, and organised committees for sorting out different things, and eventually got it all sorted. They still had relapses into mild anarchy, but basically organised a mini society. It was very interesting.

well we would become an anarchial society (if that is a word. i think anarchial should mean in the state of anarchy any way getting on.) and we would go into mass chaos and eventually crime lords would immerge and we would be under their rule.
-
if there were no rules the world would be entire havvock because rules help our soiciety like what if someone tried to kill another person there would be no reason for them to go to jail cause there were no rules so they would get off scot free for killing someone
-
You need to look at some of the African countries, most of the provinces of Afghanistan an places like that to see what having no rules and being in Law-less land can be like.
-
In my beleif there could never be no rules, there would always be someone making rules and some people who would follow them.
-
Anarchy.
-
Not possible. Even if everyone made their own rules, there would still be rules. And if everyone made their own rules, it would be a continuous battle for supremacy.
-
Hierarchy would be present as soon as the Anarchy started. Gangs taking over, ex military trying to save the country, gun wielding Christians trying to restore order, the works! :)
-
couldn't happen humans love rules. Just read Lord of the Flies, here we have little children left alone..rules created and the whole mess starts again.
-
Chaos!
-
twister would be a lot more fun.
