It's not. Like any type of activity it's beneficial, the fact that a person is exercising is more important than the type of exercise.

It is important because it instills in them a love of art. It is not just exercise. Even if they don't become dancers in later life, they learn to appreciate the art form and the skills involved in performing it. If we don't expose our children to art in all it's forms as a culture we would be lacking. We are the only animals that make art. Art is an expression of our very highest nature.

self confidence follows us through out our life. performing in front of an audience creates within us confidence that will overcome fear later on.

It helps to teach them discipline and how to walk well even if they do not become dancers it will teach them how to care for their body and fitness.
