  • Many years ago I did. It was hard the 1st couple times. I really beat around the bush before getting to the point. After a while I realized I was just wasting valuable time and started doing it like any other job task, quickly and efficiently.
  • It is always difficult, but most people do it to themselves. If you lay out the rules and they continually violate them, then it is their own fault for being stupid.
  • Unfortunately, I've had to a few times. Its always a last resort after talking to them, working with them, retraining, etc. Its always difficult because that is their livlihood, but I have to do what is best for the company.
  • yes, many times. attitude, poor performance, dishonesty, punctuality, attendance, you name it...most of the time it was not difficult...i gave people many opportunities to save themselves. the only time i ever felt bad about it was if i had to let someone go that couldn't do the the job and they had done their best.
  • I'm not in a position to fire someone per se but I have significant sway with my manager. I reamed one guy out yesterday for slacking off. I was absolutely tired of him sitting in his chair as everyone else around him was busy working. He's a temp at my company. I told him I just had to make one phone call and he wouldn't be back tomorrow. I also told him that I knew how important it was to him and his family that he had the job and that I simply couldn't understand what he was thinking by risking losing it. He rather impressed me this morning with his productivity. I really wouldn't want to make the call but he's with us for a reason and it's not to watch us work.
