You're reading Is it "safe" to say that with the development (and "perfection") of GPS devices, that no person with one in their possession (coupled with a working cellular telephone) can become "lost," ever again? How could you, if you had them with you?

I have NEVER been in an area where I have seen "NO SIGNAL" displayed on my cell phone.

However, I heard of one guy who was supposedly LOST IN ITALY, but when he glanced at his cell phone, he saw the word "ROME," displayed, so he knew that he was in that nation's capital.

If you go down into a mine both your cell phones and GPS devices will not work, Mensan. If you had an accident there help must reach you the old way!

You are absolutely correct.
Cell phones and GPS locators don't function, for example, while you are on a tour of the CARLSBAD CAVERNS in New Mexico, OR while you are 400' below the ground in the "War Room" at Offut AFB near Omaha, Nebraska, or at the NORAD HQ at Cheyenne Mountain, Colorado.

Thanks for reminding me of that!
