I am a special effects professional with extensive experience in scene construction and photo manipulation. I am a court certified expert in both fields and have testified numerous times.

My verdict is this - there are two points of which I am 100% certain:

    1) The footage was shot in a vacuum, and in an environment where gravity is consistent with that of the moon. These two conditions combined account for the "hopping" of the astronauts being significantly slower than what you would see in Earth's gravity, while the "snapping" of various tethered tags affixed to the pressure suits whip about significantly faster than what you would see if their motions were dampened by a fluid such as oxygen or water - all in the same frame and same footage. This precludes other theories that have suggested slow-motion photography or underwater stages. Only a vacuum and reduced gravity can account for these two speed differences.

    2) Several of the NASA images were, in fact, manipulated. Most of the popular questions that have been brought up are easily and legitimately explained. For example: The idea that the dark side of the astronauts is too well lit to have been taken with a single light source (the Sun) is incorrect. Photons bounce a lot - a phenomenon called Global Illumination. It's why you can see just about everything in a room with a single window and no internal lights on a sunny day - you don't just see pitch black and a glowing square where the light hits directly. Of the many issues that have been brought up regarding the images, the one that sticks is the fact that in a few images where the camera is pointed in different directions, the same dramatic mountains or other geological features loom in the background, which is, of course, impossible. The explanation for this is more of a political one. This was a moment of glory for the US at the height of the cold war. "Juicing up" images of this kind was not uncommon for either the US or the USSR. I'm pretty sure that that is what was going on for the few retouched images.

Over all there can be no doubt that we went to the moon and that the motion footage of that event is genuine.

Conspiracy theorists say it was fantastically difficult to put a man on the moon. Fair enough, but surely it would be even more fantastically difficult to ensure the silence of the hundreds of thousands of people involved over the past four decades.

Nope, because I see no reason to not believe that the US landed on the moon, and I certainly don't think it is plausible that a hoax was staged simply to "raise more money for other uses such as weapons and other technology's to take over the world."

    How do I know?

It has yet to be officially ruled out if the landing was faked or not, though there does exist some questionable evidence to the contrary that the lunar landing was faked, it has yet to be offically authenticated.

    Of course.
Not only is there ample documentation, but the Lunar Rover and other things left behind on the surface of the moon can be seen with a powerful telescope.

Besides, for a "Moon Hoax" to be true, literally tens of thousands of people would have had to keep silent for nearly 40 years. Very, very, very unlikely.

We landed on the moon. Simple trigonometry disproves the conspiracy theories regarding the moon landing pictures. Too bad most people aren't able to do simple trig. *sigh*

No. The proof that makes me positive it was not a conspiracy is that if you look at the dirt flying in the air after one of the rover things, it's a perfect parabola, which can only be created in a space-like environment. Otherwise, they spent a huge amount of the taxpayers dollars to film it in some crazy vaccum.

I'm not saying they are faked but, there are some valid questions that still haven't been answered yet.

Why would NASA send a guy to the moon to land the LEM on the surface after he had crashed the "flying bedstead" in nearly all of his training flights on earth? That makes no sense at all considering the cost and everything else riding on the mission success.

How can you program all the data needed for such a mission into a computer of the 1960's and keep that computer smaller than a house?

Why does everyone assume that images beamed into their houses onto their black and white T.V screens , just have to be reality?

Why are there no stars in the sky of any photos taken on the moon?

Why does the light seem to fade to darkness the further away you get from the foreground action in some of the moon photos, when the sun should be just as bright 1km away as it is in front of the camera?

Why do some ("single reflex" camera) shots have 2 focal lengths in the same picture? Example: Famous picture of Buzz Aldrin standing and looking back at Armstrong. Behind him the horizon is fuzzy and out of focus because the shot is focused on him, but the reflection in his visor shows a very sharp and in focus horizon!! How is this possible? (Focal length is the area of depth in which everything will apper in sharp focus, so if the focal length is set to infinity, the horizon will appear sharp and the foreground out of focus. You can only have it set on one length at a time!!)

Why does the same mountain appear in two photos of supposedly different landing sites on different missions?

Why was Neil Armstrong able to take that famous deep footprint shot in the soft powdery moon-dust right next to the LEM's powerful rocket engine, that should have blasted all such fine powder away as he came in to land?

There are more questions, but this will do for now. And by the way, the number of people involved in a conspiracy is irrelevant, since many individuals who do come forward later to contradict the official version of events, just get ridiculed and labelled as cranks and their credibility is basically destroyed. As long as the government continues to say, "We did go, and whoever says we didn't is crazy!!" it doesn't matter how many people go against them.

P.S Check out the suspicious, soft shadows on his right arm and ask yourself, what light source could make those? Not the reflection from the ground, because the angles are totally wrong! Also, note the dark background, as if the range of the floodlights just wasn't enough. There is only one light source on the moon and that's the sun, behind and to the right. What is illuminating him from the front? Professional photographers have remarked that this shot reeks of studio lighting! And if you're not convinced by that, check out my scoop picture!!!
Now you just can't argue with this one, right??

The Fox network aired a show some years ago that presented the case of those that claim that we never went to the Moon. They were fairly complete in their presentation of this side. If you go to http://www.badastronomy.com/info/contact.html, then you will find a page that give a very good rebuttal of these arguments. If you read the rebuttal with an open mind, then you will see how little water the arguments that we never went to the Moon really hold.

    ***************
"Alatea: But you said conspiracy theories are bad......I have all the pages here. When it suits you they are ok?"

Your the one who keeps seeing conspiracies where they don't exist, not me.

BTW, the conspiracy theory here is that the government faked the Moon landings. Where in this answer do I support that idea. I think that I am pretty clear about my acceptance that we did goto the Moon.

Real because I watched it all on tv as it happened and never once thought it looked fake, however I can't get good answers to some questions, one is why does the sun in the reflection of this astronaut on the moon (pic on left) look fake? (compare to the sun in pic on right of an astronaut on a space walk)

During the cold-war "space race" in the 1960s, the United States of America and the Soviet Union (USSR) monitored each other closely to be sure each knew the other's capabilities and answer them to try to "win" the "cold war" and the "space race." The Soviets, and pretty much every other industrial nation watched carefully the progress of the Apollo program and the moon landings. If there was any question that the USA or NASA had faked anything, the USSR, and probably China and others, would have noticed and publicized it back then. They could monitor radio broadcasts to and from the moon and see that the direction and delays were right based on their own radio equipment.

To believe that the moon landings were faked, you have to believe that much of the "cold war" was some kind of global conspiracy that included several obviously hostile, enemy nations. If they did conspire to make people believe the "faked" moon landings were real, what possible motivation would these secret powers manipulating the USA, USSR and others have for this deception? The whole conspiracy theory is way beyond belief.

Yes. Men really went to and walked on the moon.

Could it be possible that some of the footage is from a legitimate lunar landing and some of the footage was produced in a studio?

That would help to explain NASA's stonewalling of some of the more legitimate, unanswered questions that remain.

Then again, our government may actually be trying to promote a controversy in order to continue their campaign on disinformation. ugh.

honestly, do you think the russians wouldn't have said something if we had not. hell yes they would have! the russians were in an intense space race with the US at the time, and to land on the moon would be a huge propaganda coup. They monitored and tracked every aspect of the mission, and if there had been any deception whatsoever on the part of the united states ,you can bet the soviets would have been real quik to let the world know about it.

You're reading Did man really go to the moon? - which can also be phrased in the following ways:

  • Did man really land on the moon?
  • I have debated this question for years: Did man 'really' walk on the moon?
  • Do you believe the whole conspiracy that the U.S. never landed on the moon? Why or why not?
  • I have recently seen the video conspiracy theory, a video which justifies that actually no man had ever landed on moon. Do you beleive that America had really fooled the people.
  • Did we really make it to the moon,or is it a big hoax?
  • Do you believe that neil armstrong really landed o the moon? in the video clip that is supposedly footage of the landing, the flag is moving which i do not understand as there is no wind on the moon
  • Do you believe the moon landing actually happened?
  • Do you believe humans have ever really been to the moon?
  • Did the apollo 13 mission really land on the moon?
  • Did man ever go to the moon
  • Do you think we really landed on the moon or do you think it was a hoax the first time round?
  • Did the USA really land on the moon or was it staged?
  • In your own opinion, based on what you know and what you have learned in recent years, do you believe Americans really landed on the moon?
  • Do you think we really landed on the moon?
  • Do you believe man actually landed on the moon or do you think it was faked, if you think it was faked what are your reasons?
  • Were the moon landings faked?
  • Do you believe Americans or anyone else walked on the moon?
  • Did a man really go to the moon?
  • Do u think the moon landing was a fake?
  • Do you think that man landed on the moon?
  • Some people believe that this whole landing on the moon thing is a hoax, so is it really a hoax or did Man actually landed on moon?
