Go to an allergist, He might have an allergy to food or who knows what? I know a few people that swear that this is the way to go.

In the late l970's, my sinuses were so bad, the blood surrounding my brain became infected. my sinuses had completely closed. the only solution was surgery. my doctor surgially opened both windows on each side of my nose. the operation was a complete success.

This may have been the extreme. i tell you this as a reminder that this could happen to you, if you do not take care of your sinuses.

I rode a police motorcycle for seven years. this was the culprit of my problem with my sinuses.

I tried everything, before surgery. my best relief came from using Afrin spray, then, over a pan of boiling salt water, i would cover my head over the pan and breath in the vapors. the warm salt water really helped. finally, this ceased to offer any relief and then the surgery.

Take care of your sinuses. they are located not only in the front and on each side of your nose, but also over the eyebrows and in the back of your head.

    Hope this helps.

Lala, I searched online for some sinus cleansing ideas. I found one at www.sinucleanse.com and if you type in homeopathic remedies you will find out about it's effectiveness and origins...also I found some information right here on ab can't remember which category...but type in neti pot and you will find it...it really works. good luck.

Hi I have suffered from sinus infections on and off since I moved south. I finally was diagnosed with allergies...never had them before I moved to the south, from the Northeast. I am on 2 meds now to treat the allergies and thus prevent the sinus infections which were chronic for over a year.

I have also sensed when one was coming on...got lots of sleep, drank tons of water, and used a saline nasal spray, get at walgreens or cvs, and kept squirting it in each nostril several times a day to loosen and expell the green crud... Be sure to warn your son to squirt the saline and while his hand is still squeezing the bottle remove from his nostril. If he leaves it in his nose and it suctions back open, the bottle that is, it can become contaminated and cause problems... I also use an over the counter decongestant to open and drain the passages. Good luck.

  • I read an article not too long ago that divided the remedies according to what kind of sinusitis it was -- if it was leaky, astringents like goldenrod, goldenseal, ox eye daisy and plantain were good; if it was stuffy, yerba mansa (no idea what that is, though), goldenseal, garlic, and sage were good, and if it was the dry kind he recommended mucilaginous herbs like slippery elm or marshmallow. You basically just made a tea of these, added a bit of salt, and used them in nasal spray. Hope that helps.
