depite the fact that the magical age is coming up, you are still under their roof and ought to respect their opinions. Sit down with them and talk it out? What is it they don't like? Is it the sleep over in general, or the fact that it is at a boy's house. I have an 18yo and I would freak at that too. Just because the law tells me she can vote, doesn't mean she can't get abused or hurt. Think about it from their side. Talk to them and see if there cannot be some sort of agreement as to who you can stay with.

close to 18, but not 18. they are your parents, you live under there house, there rules. Are you student, or are you full time in employment. if they are supporting you, you should respect there rules, they are just protecting you.

Okay... here is my opinion from my experience... I slept over at my boyfriends house many times. I disobeyed my parents and I am almost eighteen. I know that they would have freaked out but I didn't let them know. I feel really bad for lying to them. But on the other hand, if your parents won't let you have a sleep over with a friend... (same sex) that is stupid. Your parents should let you if you are almost eighteen.

You cannot do it and still respect them. You aren't 18 and therefore are not recognized by law as an adult yet, so if you disobey your parents you are disrespecting them and their authority.

How can I break the law, but do it while still respecting the law? You can't.

Even when you turn 18, just because it makes you an adult according to law, it doesn't suddenly mature you. Many people do not actually begin thinking maturely as adults until their mid 20's, until then you are still young and only an adult in the eyes of the law when it relates to being held accountable for your actions. It doesn't mean that all of a sudden you'll be able to make good decisions... you just can't blame anyone else for the bad ones.

Sorry hon, but you don't; being close to 18 doesn't matter at all. Since you are not 18 yet, so you are still bound by the rules of your home. You can try explaining your reasons to your parents, but ultimately, if they say no, the answer is no. Respect their decision and deal with it.

Even though you are close to 18, you are not 18, and you are still living under your parents roof and parents always knows what is best. So try and abide by their rules until you are ready leave or turn 18.

The magic phrase is "CLOSE to 18". Even if you were 18 already, if you are living with your parents you should respect their rules and wishes..to a certain extent anyway.
