Does anyone actually make money posting advertising links on a website through google? I have seen ads but suspect a scam.

    I think Google just lets the advertisers know how many people have seen the ad (how many hits). It's the exposure of the ad and the company's name that's important, just like in a newspaper. A newspaper can't prove that it was the newspaper ad that affected a company's sales, but -- as an ad person at a paper once told me -- you have to keep your name always in front of people so that on that one day when a customer DOES need your services, your name is there to see.
