If you want more attention from your teacher, produce excellent work, participate in class discussions (this includes asking good questions, as well as giving your thoughts and opinions), and speak with the teacher outside of class about the topics you're studying. Teachers enjoy students who enjoy learning in their classes.
Why do you need to "deal" with the so-called "suck ups" and "teacher's pets"? What do they do to you, personally, other than annoy you because they get attention?
yeah that was me i have to admit... i have always been confident,my teachers all loved me i WAS teachers pet.
I think that teachers pets are a very special breed.
Everything is by the book, any deviation cannot be accepted - creativity with boundaries isn't much creativity at all.
I work with some - and on the positive side you get squeaky clean work and have someone to point out the mistakes you make.
On the other hand you can't leave them in charge of anything because - the perfectionist inside - is anything but economical and very budget hungry.
So what do I do? I tease them, throw balls at them and have a jolly good time : D
Don't get me wrong, they throw them back!
Everyone's different, and though it's hard sometimes, teacher's pets are my favorite as they ultimately add to the work and school environment. There has to be a balance, and if they are good with one thing and I'm with the other - hey! Great teamwork!

From a teacher's point of view, it doesn't hurt to have a teacher's pet or two, as long as they get the others moving!!!!

You're reading Have you ever had any teacher's pets, suck ups, in class and just wanted to make them go away? Tell me your experiences and how you'd deal with them.

You don't know the half of it so stop making assumptions. I could care less if they get more attention, I am an active participant in class. They just think they out do everyone in class. Maybe you should go back to school and experience it.

If you're giving your best in class, what do you care? It doesn't matter, in the grand scheme of things, whether or not they are suck ups or teachers pets. It matters if they are harassing and abusing you, in which case you have every right to be pissed, and you should tell an adult. Other than that, let it go. You will be dealing with people like this all your life, and you will only be miserable if you let things like this make you miserable.

Everyone's got their place in society. I hated teacher's pets at school but never directly did anything about it other than backstab. Now that I'm in a work environment I can maturely see how the balance makes the team.
But there are those who simply want to be that - a teachers pet. They are not interested in learning and forget everything after High School. They simply want to be told how good they are and how satisfied everyone is with them. It's something about parenting in my opinion. The more attention you get at home, and especially single kids, the more you want at school. And who's the "parent" at school? It's your teacher!
So you learn and memorize whatever it takes to get the grades - to be elevated to this exemplary student at home and at school. This drive could continue throughout life and even lead to success.
But that doesn't mean it's a pleasant life. Envy from others will eventually leave the teacher's pet a lonely fella.
