You are 6 months pregnant and still using methadone? High chance that at the very least your baby will be born addicted. Not to mention fetal alcohol syndrome. Your baby may have to endure a period of time in the neonatal ward because of oxygen suppression. Methadone does cross the placenta..what you take, you are giving to your child.
High. You're a poster child for birth control.
Um, I'm not a doctor, but I'd say somewhere in the 90% range. SHAME ON YOU!!! You are messing up someones life before they even have a chance! I'm not one for hellfire and brimstone, but I would like to think there is a special place reserved for people like yourself!
VERY great, Fetal alcohol syndrome or he/she will at least be born addicted to methadone..if there is not something wrong with your baby..you will be very lucky
i honestly dont know what methadone does to a fetus.
the alcohol isnt good but its hard to say. some women drink only once {not knowing theyre pregnant] and their child is born with fetal alcohol syndrome. some women drink a lot and their child is fine.
stop posting questions online and stop taking methadone. why were u even thinking about drinking while ur pregnant? wtf? It makes me mad when there are parents out there who do everything right and there baby is born retarded while theres people who smoke n drink n do drugs while pregnant and their babies turn out fine. your baby is probably at risk for a lot of things. i would go to your doctor and ask them to check it out. in the meantime, give all ur methadone and booze to charity.
methadone will not harm your baby.there is a high chance your baby will be born addicted to meth but if you breast feed this greatly reduces the chance of withdraweral also lots of skin to skin contact and less stimulation/noise the better.even if you have to tickle babies feet to wake him/her and encourage a feed the more breastmilk the better and the baby will wean itsself off whatever meth it gets through your milk natrualy.also if you keep a teddy by your skin and get your milk on it so it smells of you and put this with your baby when your not there this will help keep baby calm. if baby still withdraws then neo-natal will give it something to make baby comfy and wean off.baby will not remember this and is better for baby than you trying to come off your meds while pregnant.withdrawing while pregnant can cause misscarage,prem-birth,low birth weight,it is better for you and your baby to stay stable for your pregnancy.I know its not a choice and you do feel guilty but it is an illness if you were diabetic or epileptic you would not be expected to stop prescribed medication and you are doing best by your baby by not trying to stop taking your prescribed methadone.
.alchol syndrome is a risk but if you are aware and are looking for it then at least your baby can be given the help it needs thousands of children with learning dissibilities/behavioural problems in brition are undiagnoises because parents arnt aware it could be because of alchol use before they knew they were pregnant.some physical signs of alchol syndrome ie smaller features, closer together often fix themselfs in first few years of life.good luck
had my baby. healthy and no withdrawals so i had nothing to worry about
off all drugs and drink now
should have got off them earlier
not great been on them pregnant at all
has anyone been through the same situation and what effects did it have on your baby?
